I’m sure you’ve heard it somewhere-from colleagues talking
on the bus, or a daughter sharing to her mom in a restaurant. Perhaps even a
friend has mentioned it to you and maybe, it is about time that you seriously
think of watching and learning something from Fireproof, the movie released in
2008, now that you desperately need help for marriage problems.
It is no joke. I personally know the pain of dealing with
marriage woes. Most of the time, it feels like all that you have built your
adult life is going down the drain and you try and try but there seems to be no
resolve. Other times, you don’t feel anything, your emotions having numbed from
the constant barrage of fights and arguments. It seems like nothing your
partner says or does matter anymore.
It’s a blessing how I came across Fireproof at a local video
store at a time when my husband and I needed help for marriage issues. I know it was God’s reminder to Derek and
me that we have to stick to our marriage vows of, “ to have and to hold from
this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness
and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us
part. “
Statistics show that 50%of marriages in the U.S., 45% in
Canada and 64% in Sweden, end in divorce. When you look at the numbers, you
would realize that the vows uttered in people’s weddings are just that- words.
People do not even mean what they say anymore. You and your partner can make a
difference.
Fireproof reminded me and my life partner that our marriage
is not just our promise to each other; it is our covenant with God. In our
marriage, it is not only the two of us who are involved; God should be the
center of our union.
Now, that you are in this situation and you do not know what
to do and who to turn to, try to watch the movie. It is certain that you can
relate to the characters and what they go through. At some point, you may even
feel that this movie is personal- like it’s about you and your spouse. At the
end, you will be enlightened on what to do and you will realize that whatever
hardships you are going thru, God is always there to help you with your concerns.
It is amazing where we find support for our troubles,
really. Help for marriage problems
from a firefighter? You bet.
