Have you decided to outsource your administrative staff? Well, this is the best thing to do if you know the process and understand how this works for your business. Outsourcing can be beneficial but you need to be careful in hiring only the best people. Otherwise, your expectations of a newly-hired employee may turn out to be a problem later.
To better understand the outsourcing
process, you need to follow the following:
- Identify what job descriptions the newly hired virtual assistant (VA) would be working on. In this way, you will be able to clearly define the job details. You should make sure the applicant will know what the job details should be, just in case someone is officially hired by you. If there are five applicants, for example, all of them should know the job description beforehand. The purpose here is to let them know and confirm to themselves if they can do it or not, and as a way to assure the company that the newly-hired employee can do job with only less supervision. Remember that you are hiring a remote employee and you cannot easily follow them through.
- Ask for their resume and short essay of why they should be hired by the company. This is part of the very important part of the hiring process for a VA. Here you will be able to identify the skills, work experience, family background, and origin of your candidates. You can choose from among the resumes which you think standout among the current applicants. Make sure that you based your requirements and qualifications on the job details you place in your earlier announcements. By simply studying the candidates resume, you will be able to get at least 50 percent of the information you need. The essay that you also ask would tell you how far they have developed their writing skills. Remember that not everyone is gifted with the writing ability, so that we cannot assume everyone knows how to write reliable articles, especially if the VA also requires content writing tasks.
- Make a final live interview via Skype. Since the work is outsourcing type, your chance to make a final live interview is by using Skype, or any other platforms, where you can talk each other live and you can ask for additional questions. You may ask for other experiences of the applicants, their educational background and other leading questions related to the job. Focus also on the experiences of the applicants especially if they are related to the job descriptions. In this way, you have already a big chance of hiring a smart employee who knows the task even before they’re hired officially by the company. During the final interview you will also know whether the applicant is sincere or not, or whether he knows the job or not. When the interviews are done, this is now the time to make a final decision – who among the applicants should be lucky? Hire now.
