Applaud your Kids

Parents should expect great things to happen with their children.  In everything they do, when you are speaking with them, use the tone that you are only expecting good things from them.  You have confidence in their being successful.
Applaud your kids’ positives.  They are probably very aware of their negative points but it is very nice to hear some positives.  Give three positives for every negative.  Do this with your spouse and with your kids.  Not matter how old they are.
Help your kids find excitement in mundane activities, which will lead to a greater appreciation for life.  We all need this reminder.  Do not remove all the daily living experiences which deny them the rites of passage.  It is okay for them to struggle a bit.
If parents want their children to be caring and loving, parents need to be the same way.
Parents cannot be hypocrites in any area of their lives, otherwise children will not trust them. Parents should be active listeners, eat healthy, exercise and get enough sleep. This is what we refer to as good role modeling. If we ask them to do it, then we should do it.
Above all Consistency.  Be consistent as a parent and develop an attitude of gratitude.
You might not be the perfect parent but you are perfect for your child.  We all make mistakes.  We all would like to go back in history and do things different, but just do it better tomorrow.  Once a parent, always a parent.  Let you kiddo know how proud you are of them.  Call them, text them or tell them.  You will never regret it.
