A frustrated artist
returns home to his passion in painting to help his countrymen. His countrymen were
victims of the recent Typhoons that hit Philippines and claimed thousands of
lives.
Children of typhoon
survivors are actually the main beneficiaries of the art center that he is
going to establish at a relocation site in Cagayan de Oro City. The city was
hit by Typhoon Washi in 2011. Over a thousand people were officially declared
dead and over 600 were also missing.
THE STORY
Joel Escol is a frustrated artist and 4th Year Architecture student. He didn't finish his last year in college plus some major subjects due to massive poverty. Out of frustration, he got married and gave up his talent in art and thrashed all his painting materials. Instead, he focused on his work as a Journalist and also on his family. He had forgotten his ultimate dream of establishing a mini art school and teach children all about his brand of artistry.
But the internet and YouTube opened doors to him to live up to his passion in painting and cartooning when he saw great artists and read about their lives.
Now, after 10 years, his passion in painting is here again, as he was more inspired by his over 6,000 neighbors who are survivors of Typhoon Sendong that hit his hometown two years ago and claimed the lives of over a thousand people. Their children needs help to recover from trauma and he believes he can become part of their recovery.
THE PROBLEM
Right now, Joel has no more art materials left to begin working on major artworks that will inspire kids to learn art too. So, this time he turn to the loyal supporters of Indiegogo to ask for help.

These are the genuine children of Typhoon survivors. Many of
them have lost their brothers and sisters their, parents and other members of
the family - and they are my neighbors. Once the art center is
established they are the main beneficiaries of the art center, which will also
cater to other children of difficult circumstances.
