Is Hiring a Virtual Assistant Right For Me?

This is a question that i found myself returning to time and time again.  If you are reading this then you have thought about it yourself.  You are , well, like me.  The truth is – it is not right for everyone.  There are challenges for sure, but once I began down this path of uncovering whether it was right for me – both before I hired one and even after.
Let’s step into the honesty bubble for a minute… hiring someone, either in your office orvirtually, brings challenges.  Why?  People.  People are complicated.  They are also necessary for growth, stability and “freedom from the drudgery” as I like to say.  If it were fall-off-the-log simple everyone would do it, but [we are still in the honesty bubble, right?], it is not as complicated as you may imagine from the outside looking in.

Where to find a virtual assistant

This may be a good first step for those that can afford it.  Consider it a baby step into an unknown, but a giant step when it comes to anticipated compensation for a VA.  It is not uncommon to pay $35-75 and hour for a US based virtual assistant.  That being said, for those reluctant to go overseas with their first attempt may find that the risk/reward for paying more is worth it.  I know many people that have hired within the US and been very happy, never to leave it’s shores.  IT is true that you lose the economic arbitrage of hiring overseas, but there is a plus.  Most US based VAs are familiar with most of the technologies that you wish them to use, speeding up the learning curve.
