I have sat down with parents and their student and added up the time spent in class, the time spent studying and the time spent – hanging out.
There is quite a bit of free time. The idea is that students should spend twice the amount of classroom time, studying but most students do not have this kind of self control especially without the sound of the helicopter blades.
Now, there are exceptions. Speak to any student in front of their parents and they will swear that they are diligently studying… All their free time.
Productive use of free time includes, responsible activities that look good on a resume, on campus jobs, internships/work studies and recreational sports and arts. Always be building the resume.
